A cozy, high-protein baked pasta dish that’s easy to prep ahead and perfect for family dinner night.
Ingredients
16 jumbo pasta shells
1 lb lean ground beef
1 jar (24 oz) tomato pasta sauce
200g ricotta cheese
20g grated parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded mozzarella
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp dried basil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Boil jumbo shells in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
Brown the ground beef over medium heat. Once fully cooked, drain excess fat and stir in the jar of tomato sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
Mix ricotta, parmesan, garlic powder, basil, and a pinch of salt in a bowl to create the filling.
Spread a layer of the meat sauce across the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
Stuff each shell with the ricotta filling and place seam-side up in the baking dish.
Top with remaining meat sauce, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is melted.
Serve hot - pairs well with a side salad or steamed veggies.
Recipe Notes
You can reduce the beef to ¾ lb if you prefer a lower-calorie version.
Make it ahead: prep and assemble in the morning, then bake when ready for dinner.
